Men and depression

Wellness

Statistically speaking, women tend to seek out therapy more than men for anxiety, depression, relationship challenges and more. Men are more likely to try to work things out on their own – that is, they may not talk about their problems openly with others. Often, men can interpret mental health issues as a sign of weakness and may avoid seeking help. Women and men process life events differently – neither way is wrong or bad – just different. But men do suffer from mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety, just as women do. According to the website Helpguide, there are some differences in how men and women experience depression, and, therefore, their symptoms are different. I thought the … Continue reading

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Patient Stories

Gina Hasse packs a lot into every day. Between family and work, she has a full schedule. Gina didn’t have time for a little stomach pain – but medical emergencies are never convenient. “I was having pain but I didn’t think it was anything serious”, said Gina. But it was very serious. An x-ray uncovered an ovarian cyst the size of a volleyball. Women’s Health Specialist Dr. Jeffrey Stearnes with Alegent Creighton Clinic knew the cyst had to come out. Let’s meet this impressive trio: Watch this video introduction to learn more about Dr. Cummins Dr. James Cummins is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist … Continue reading

The “Ta-ta Sisterhood”

Patient Stories

Our “Ta-Ta Sisterhood” is a group of 10 wonderful women who made the trek in October together, to have their annual mammograms at Mercy Hospital’s Mammogram Suite. Our group “leader” Jannine thought of the idea 2 years ago when she invited 4 of us to join her. She gathered our information and made the appointments so that we would could be seen one after the other. We all know that going to get your mammogram isn’t something you necessarily look forward to, so her idea of making it a fun “girls’ day out” made it sound a little more appealing! Last year’s outing was so fun, that our original group of 5 doubled in size to 10 women this year, ranging in age from 40 to 70!  To … Continue reading
